  • What are the first steps?

    • First before the session I will ask each new client to fill out an intake form

    • After the intake when they come in for a session I may do some palpation (using my hands to feel) different joints and muscle tissues of their body. This helps me find areas that are off balance and address them to help recenter and heal the body. I may do some warming up or other assessment techniques with you either seated or on the table.

    • Then I step out of the room for about 2-5 minutes, while you take off your clothes and get under the sheets. I will knock on the door before entering the room and ask behind the curtain if you are ready. Once i have the confirmation I will enter and begin the massage session

  • How much clothes do I take off?

    • It's up to each person. Some people take all of their clothes off, some keep all their clothes on. As the therapist find it easier to help the client release tension with less clothes on because I can move their tissues easier. Personally, when I go in for my own self care, I keep my underwear on the first session and then depending on how I feel with the therapist I chose to take off my underwear as well.

  • How Can i best show up for a massage session?

    • When I show up for my own sessions I try to take a shower before hand so I smell clean for the other therapist. i don't put on any deodorant. When someone smells too strong, whether from sweating a lot before coming in, or using too much scents (perfume, cologne, body spray, etc..), it can be distracting for the therapist and can prevent them from doing their best work. I like to smell pretty neutral and find a shower with normal bar soap and shampoo does the trick.

    • Show up in comfortable clothing depending on the weather. I like to give clients homework exercises and its easier to do them in loose clothes.

    • Come as yourself and how you feel that day. if you've had a tough day and don't want to talk much or feel sad, that is ok. You don't have to show up as anything other than how you feel that day. It's a judgment free zone and a massage can help bring your energy back up if it's down (or let go of any feelings that aren't serving you).

    • Time spent talking before getting on the table takes away from the massage time, so try to get on the table first before talking about anything else.

  • How much should I talk while receiving a massage?

    • Up to you, if you want to talk about your day/month/year, I am here to listen. If you want peace and quiet while you receive the massage, then I won't talk and will focus more on the treatment

    • The session is yours so please make sure to communicate, when a place feels like it needs extra attention when I go over it. Let me know if the pressure is too much or too little

      • Keep in mind that therapists are not robots and can only apply a certain amount of pressure without hurting themselves. It's not a competition to see how much pain a person can withstand during a massage session.

      • If the therapist isn't giving the pressure you like then feel free to end the session early. Ask for a refund, and see if they have any recommendations on people that can provide your desired pressure.

    • If the session feels anything other than safe/beneficial then please speak up. It is important to have a safe, caring space for the clients because that is how people heal the best.

      • It can go something like this, "Hey (therapist), I feel uncomfortable with your touch here/there. Can you move on to a different spot or stop doing this technique?

    • We are here to work/talk together to create the best outcome for your session. Communication is key

  • How do I schedule another appointment

    • The best way for us is to schedule after a session in person

    • Alternatively you can use the online booking system here (https://www.vagaro.com/hnfk7vy )

  • Can I buy a gift card?

  • If I give consent for more delicate work like intra-oral, or chest/rib massage can I take it away? If so, how?

    • Yes! Even if we have a written and verbal consent. If at any point during receiving the more sensitive techniques you feel like it isn't benefiting you, verbally ask to stop and we will stop, discussing what to work on next to best help you feel holistic.
